Friday, August 20th

Happy Friday!! I hate to be out again, students. Please be respectful to your sub.

Today's Agenda

1. Video Bulletin/turn in late signatures to box

2. Complete Barrio Boy First Read in Study Sync (remind students to go through CLEVER to McGraw Hill)

  1. Have students share out with their table partners what they thought the meanings of the bolded words from yesterday were (they were supposed to highlight and annotate). Have them compare and maybe change theirs if they’d like. They can use Google to see if they were correct.

  2. Students will reread the story together as you play the audio for all of them to hear. Go to the READ tab and hit “audio”

  3. Play the Sync TV tab’s video for them to see kids discussing the text using academic language.

  4. Complete from yesterday: They will complete the 3 THINK Questions using the RACE writing strategy.  They need to do their very best writing to show me their skills. Students can use the split screen tool to view the text as they write. They need to cite a paragraph number. (They should turn those on).

  5. Note: Lots of kids turned theirs in early yesterday. I pushed them back out to them to complete them more fully. Only 1 0r 2 kids did a good enough job. They need to cite evidence with paragraph number. Did they use the RACE strategy from the bookmark? Each answer needs to be 3 sentences or more. They need to use the sentence starter to do the E at the end of the answer. When fully done they can submit. BEST WRITING!

  6. Extra time:  They can go into Renaissance Place and pick out a myON book and read. Some picked theirs out yesterday and can read...

Due Dates:

  1.  Barrio First Read due tonight (don't do grammar worksheet)

  4. They will complete the 3 THINK Questions using the RACE writing strategy. They need to do their very best writing to show me their skills. Students can use the split screen tool to view the text as they write. They need to cite a paragraph number. (They should turn those on).
